Historical Museum (Pyongyang)
The History Museum in the North Korean capital Pyongyang is a museum covering the history of Korea from the Stone Age to the Japanese colonial era . Like the Korean Art Gallery opposite , it is one of the city's most important museums.
history
The museum was founded in December 1945 and was initially located in a building on Moran Hill . In 1977, the exhibition moved to a building on Kim Il-sung Square , east of Sungri Street .
In 2006, 90 exhibits from the History Museum were presented in the Seoul National Museum of Korea in South Korea . It was the most important exchange of cultural relics between the two states to date.

The exhibition is located in a flat, neoclassical monumental building from 1960. It extends over 19 exhibition rooms and a total area of 10,429 square meters. The building has a square base with a portico in front . The foyer is lined with marble .

The exhibition includes around 4000 exhibits, including paintings, clothing, weapons, jewelry, ship models, coins, mostly in the form of copies and a historical letter that was developed in Korea before Johannes Gutenberg (see also Jikji ).
