The Korean Art Gallery ( kor. 조선 미술 박물관) is an art museum in the North Korean capital Pyongyang . The museum opened in August or September 1954.
description
Covering an area of 11,000 m² over four floors is Korean art from the period of antiquity to the present shown. It is mainly about paintings and sculptures . In total, the building in neoclassical style has 22 exhibition rooms of various sizes. As is common across the country, part of the exhibition is dedicated to Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il . The roof on the street side is decorated with a large replica of the flag of the Korean People's Army .
The building is located on Kim Il-sung Square, next to the History Museum on Sungri Street in the central Chung-guyŏk ( Kyongrim-dong ) district.
