The History of Political Economy ( HOPE ) is a quarterly economic journal published by Duke University . The focus of the journal is on the publication of articles on the history of political economics.

It is regarded as a renowned magazine in the field of the history of economic thought . A study by the French economists Pierre-Phillippe Combes and Laurent Linnemer places the journal in the fifth category C (out of six).
