Hitoshi Iwaaki

Hitoshi Iwaaki ( Japanese 岩 明 均 Iwaaki Hitoshi ; * July 28, 1960 ) is a Japanese mangaka . He is known for his his - and horror manga .

Life

He made his debut as a manga artist in 1985 with Gomi no Umi . He achieved a great success in 1990 with Kiseijū via a parasite invasion on earth. For the manga he received the 17th Kodansha Manga Prize in 1993 and the 27th Seiun Award in 1996 , a prize for outstanding science fiction works. Today (as of 2005) Iwaaki is working on the historical series History , which was nominated for the Osamu Tezuka Culture Prize in 2005 and received the Great Manga Prize for this award in 2012.

Osamu Tezuka influenced him, and in 2011 he was given the opportunity to write a sequel to Tezuka's famous manga Black Jack .
