Hjalmar Alfred Dahl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hjalmar Alfred Dahl (* 1856 in Bergen , Norway ; † 1884 ibid) was a Norwegian landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Dahl was a son of the infantry captain Hans Andreas Dahl (1818–1890) and his wife Eline Jacobine Wallendahl (* 1826). Like his older brother Hans , who had studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 1873 , he trained as a landscape painter. In the years 1880/1881 he was enrolled at the Düsseldorf Academy. There Hugo Crola and Heinrich Lauenstein were his teachers in the elementary class B. However, they attested that he had little talent.
