Hjartøy (Norwegian for Heart Island ) is an island off the Prince Harald Coast of Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It is located 3 km west of the Skallen group of hills in the eastern part of the Lützow-Holm Bay .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them descriptively after their shape, mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 .
