Holy Trinity of SW

The Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Waltenhofen is a branch of the parish of Oberweikertshofen and is located in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Egenhofen .

history

The church, built in 1612, is a donation from the rich Roggenstein farmer Hans Skull, who fell over the roots of a mighty tree in his cart in 1612. The accident went smoothly and a cross-shaped root system was exposed.

When the Fürstenfeldbruck district building authority expanded the Waltenhofen through-road in 2012, the masonry of the church vault was badly damaged and has been in danger of collapsing ever since. The church has been supported by scaffolding since the end of 2012. Since the church foundation does not have the necessary money, the Fürstenfeldbruck district and the Munich-Freising ordinariate argue over who will pay the renovation costs.

description

The small church building consists of a three-bay nave and a single-bay choir with a three-eighth end (rounded inside). The slender roof turret with a gable roof sits on the east wall.

Furnishing

The flat-roofed nave has rich high-baroque stucco around 1675/83 and side altars placed on the choir arch around 1690. The pulpit was created in 1693 by Franz Prugger from Dachau. In the cross-vaulted choir and on the arch of the choir, rich late baroque acanthus stucco by Benedikt Heiß from the period after 1700 has been preserved. Like the side altars, the high altar from 1690 has figures by the Landsberg sculptor Lorenz Luidl . On the side walls of the choir there are figures of Saints John the Baptist and Sebastian, probably also by Lorenz Luidl.

Memorial stone

On the north wall of the church there is a marble memorial stone that commemorates the founder and his wife.
