history
The area was originally a private hunting ground for the Swaziland kings . The name Hlane is Siswati and means something like wilderness. In the 1960s, the area was divided into two with the construction of the MR3 highway ; as a result, many animals were run over. The park is now managed as one of three by the private organization Big Game Parks .
fauna and Flora
The park consists largely of forest areas and wet savannah .
Hlane Royal National Park is divided into individual sections by fences. Small animals can easily cross it, but the large mammals of the park only stay in certain areas. Elephants , giraffes , lions , crocodiles and rhinos can be found in Hlane Royal National Park . The population of white-backed vultures is the highest in Africa in terms of population density.
