Nature reserves in Swaziland

Nature reserves in Swaziland are legally proclaimed by the state Swaziland Swaziland National Trust Commission (SNTC). However, national parks do not fall under the SNTC laws, but are subject to the Wildlife Protection Act. The three most famous national parks are managed by Big Game Parks .

Swaziland distinguishes between two different types of nature reserves:

  • Nature reserves
  • Other protected areas
    • National parks
    • Private nature reserves
    • Non-proclaimed nature and wildlife reserves

A new status structure has been proposed, but this has not yet been implemented (as of June 2019).
