This is a list of all nature reserves in St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha , i.e. H. of all recognized protected areas in the British Overseas Territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic .

Note: The following classification was made according to IUCN rubrics.

Ascension

There are several protected areas on Ascension . Protected areas are divided into four categories at the national level: National Parks , Nature Reserves , Sanctuaries, and Areas of Historic Interest .

St. Helena

On the island of St. Helena there are many protected areas that in the categories National Park ( English National Park ) Nature Reserve ( Nature Reserve ), bird sanctuary ( Important Wire Bird Areas ) and Historical Protected Areas ( Historic Conservation Areas ) are divided. The classification therefore does not correspond to that of the IUCN , UNEP and WCMC .

Tristan da Cunha

There are three protected areas on the Tristan da Cunha archipelago . In addition, all eight penguin breeding areas of the northern rockhopper penguin ( Eudyptes moseleyi ) are protected as nature reserves.

• Inaccessible to the Gough Island - World Heritage of UNESCO - 3979 km² (7,900 hectares ?) - 1995 proclaimed 2004 extended ( 37 ° 18 '0.1 "  S , 12 ° 40' 45.8"  W )
• Gough Island - 2,298.11 km² - proclaimed a Ramsar Conservation Area in 2008 ( 40 ° 19 ′ 8.1 ″  S , 9 ° 56 ′ 57.7 ″  W )
