The nature reserves in Botswana can be divided into the following protection categories:

• National parks
• Game reserves ( Game Reserve )
• Wildlife sanctuaries ( Wildlife Reserves )

National parks

The national parks in Botswana were established to protect the unspoiled nature of Botswana . Settlement, use and change by humans are prohibited here.

• Chobe National Park
• Gemsbok National Park , part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park
• Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
• Nxai Pan National Park

Hunting reserves and game reserves

In the case of hunting reserves, the protection of the flora and fauna is also in the foreground. However, human use (e.g. hunting) is permitted here.

• Khutse Game Reserve
• Mokolodi Nature Reserve
• Manyelanong Game Reserve
• Gaborone Game Reserve

As a game reserve , the Moremi game reserve has a special status among the hunting reserves.
