National parks in Algeria
In Algeria there are 22 national parks of very different size and importance. The first national park was proclaimed in 1984.
The parks Belezma, Chréa , Djurdjura and the El Kala National Park are well known . Most of the parks are de facto biosphere reserves, only the older parks have the status of an IUCN Category II protected area.
