Forest parks

The forest parks can best be compared with the German state forest . They are under state administration and forestry may only be operated in a controlled manner with approval. Protected areas on private initiative

• The Bolong Fenyo Community Wildlife Reserve near Gunjur covers 320 hectares and was established in 2008 on the initiative of Gunjur residents. It is the first protected area of ​​a village community in Gambia.
• The near-Buteh Mahogany Park in Berrending , east of Gunjur, was set up of 2006. It contains 40 mahogany trees such as the Khaya senegalensis on a site with a circumference of 1500 m (around 10 hectares)  .
