The Kunkilling Forest Park is a forest area in the West African state of Gambia .
topography
The area with 142 hectares designated in 1954 is located directly on the Gambia River , in the Central River Region in the Fulladu West district . The approximately 2 × 0.5 kilometer area is located near Janjanbureh Island on the south bank of the river. From the capital of the Janjanbureh region , the Kunkilling Forest Park is about three miles or two hours by boat.
Flora and fauna
The park has a bird watching platform from which you can watch the rich bird life above the tree tops . Among other things were the Adamawa Turtle Dove ( Streptopelia hypopyrrha ), the Beaudoin-Schlangenadler ( Circaetus beaudouini ), green-winged pytilia ( Pytilia melba ), red-winged pytilia ( Pytilia phoenicoptera ) Finfoot ( Podica senegalensis ), shining-blue kingfisher ( Alcedo quadribrachys ) Meisenschnäpper ( Myioparus plumbeus ) , White-backed vulture ( Gyps africanus ), gray-backed amaranth ( Lagonosticta virata ), yellow-bellied hyliota ( Hyliota flavigaster ), amethyst racer ( Rhinoptilus chalcopterus ) and the captriel ( Burhinus capensis ) observed.
You can also see numerous species of monkeys in the forest.
