The Bama Kuno Forest Park (spelling variant: Bamakuno Forest Park ) is a forest area in the West African state of Gambia .

topography

The 931 hectare forest area is located in the West Coast region in the Kombo East district and, like the other forest parks in Gambia, was established on January 1, 1954. The approximately 1,100 meters wide and 6,000 meters long area is located on the northern side of the South Bank Road , Gambia's most important highway, around 25 kilometers east of the town of Brikama . The Kahlenge Forest Park is on the other side of the street .

The tree population is used for forestry .

Flora and fauna

Gambia birds is numerous, in Bama Kuno Forest Park were observed among others: the Senegal Beutelmeise ( Anthoscopus parvulus ), the Weißstirnschmätzer ( Myrmecocichla albifrons ), the brown-backed woodpecker ( Dendropicos obsoletus ), the blood breast Bartvogel ( Lybius vieilloti ), the Zwergbärtling ( Pogoniulus chrysoconus ), the dwarf weaver ( Ploceus luteolus ), the red-footed atlas widow ( Vidua chalybeata ) and the gray-eared tiger ( Estrilda troglodytes ). The Rüppell's titmouse ( Melaniparus guineensis ), the yellow-bellied hyliota ( Hyliota flavigaster ), the gray-capped eremomela ( Eremomela pusilla ) have also been observed here.

In addition to numerous species of birds , monkeys , hyenas and leopards can be found here.
