The High Cross Cemetery Neuwerk is in the district Neuwerk in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ) Engel Blecker Street.

The cross was built in 1833. It was entered under no. E 028 on October 10, 1995 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

location

The property is centrally located directly opposite the main entrance of the Catholic cemetery on Engelblecker Strasse in the Neuwerk district.

architecture

The so-called “cemetery cross” from 1833 is the memorial cross of the grave of Neuwerker priest Peter Leufgens, who died in 1829 . A high stone cross (basalt lava) with a corpus rises on a classical sandstone plinth with a palmette frieze .

The total height is 4.03 m; the body height 1.54 m.
