The Hochriesbahn is a cable car from the Ebenwaldalm (Grainbach, municipality of Samerberg ) to the Hochries summit in the German Chiemgau Alps .

The cable car was built by Pohlig-Heckel-Bleichert in 1972/73 as a two-lane two-cable large-cabin aerial tramway of the Bleichert-Zuegg type . It connects the middle station (until then a single-seat chairlift) at 916 m above sea level with the mountain station at 1542 m. The train covers the height difference of 626 m over a length of 1725 m in a travel time of around seven minutes, which corresponds to a speed of around 4 m / s. The starting point of the cable car at the middle station can be reached from the valley station at the public car park in Grainbach with a chair lift. Ticket sales take place at the valley station as well as at the middle station and at the mountain station.

The municipality of Samerberg and the Rosenheim section of the German Alpine Club have owned the Hochriesbahn since 2009 .

The train has two cabins for 50 people each and the cabin attendant and can transport around 600 people per hour. The Hochrieshütte can be reached via the ascent aid . The technology was last extensively renovated in the 1st quarter of 2019.
