The Neu-Ulm University Library is the library of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU). In addition to university members, it is also available to interested parties from the region for scientific purposes and for personal training. The library currently has approx. 3572 customers, including approx. 1100 external library customers, and has 78 workstations.

profile

The focus of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences in teaching and research are the areas of business administration, health management, information management, corporate communication, business informatics and industrial engineering. The library collects in-depth literature for these subjects.

Location

The main library is located on the ground floor of the main university building in Wileystraße and has an area of ​​937 m². Individual work cubicles, so-called carrels , enable library customers to study and work in peace. Lending takes place via an RFID system. In the main library there is also a children's reading corner, where children can borrow age-appropriate literature on the university’s main subjects.

history

From 1994 to 2008 the library was housed in the gym of a former high school of the American armed forces on an area of ​​431 m². In 1997 it was connected to the German interlibrary loan system, and in 2008 RFID accounting was introduced. In 2008, the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and with it the library moved to the new building on Wileystraße.

In 2010, the library took part in the BIX library ranking and won the title of second best German and best Bavarian university library .

In 2018, the Faculty of Health Management, previously located in Steubenstrasse, moved into a new building in Wileystrasse, and thus right next to the main building of the university; In the course of this, the previous branch library in Steubenstrasse was also integrated into the central library.

Services

  • Media lending via RFID: Customers can borrow media at the self-check-out terminal. They can be returned at the service counter or, outside of opening hours, at the return boxes in front of the library.
  • Literature research: The book and e-book inventory of the university library can be researched online using the electronic library catalog . In addition, electronic specialist databases can be called up on stationary PCs in the library (for university members also via WiFi via eduroam and from outside via EZproxy ). External library customers can also use a free, public WLAN hotspot (BayernWLAN).
  • Interlibrary loan : University members can order books or journal articles that are not in the university library's holdings from other libraries in Neu-Ulm.
  • Training : All customers can attend introductions to literature research in the library catalog and the specialist databases, take part in a training course on academic writing or be trained in the use of the reference management programs Citavi and EndNote . All training courses are also freely available as video recordings on the Internet.
