University dual

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since 2006, the umbrella brand hochschule dual has bundled all dual courses of study at the 19 state universities of applied sciences in Bavaria and universities under church sponsorship as well as the associated Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Our own quality criteria provide a reliable framework for students, universities and practice partners.

The initiative

The sponsor of the initiative is the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts . All dual study programs are characterized by a very close practical relevance. In contrast to vocational academies or dual universities, the theoretical scope corresponds to that of regular academic university studies. Due to the dual nature, students already have extensive insights into everyday working life during their studies. Lectures at the university and working hours in the company alternate regularly. The students have a contractual relationship in the form of a training , education or employment contract and receive regular remuneration from the company.

Dual study models

Two types of dual study programs can be distinguished at hochschule dual:

  1. Combined course , a dual course of study integrated into training , consisting of an academic university course with a bachelor’s degree and vocational training in the company with a chamber degree.
  2. Study with in-depth practice, a practice-integrated dual study course , which consists of an academic university degree with a bachelor's degree as well as practical phases in the company without a chamber degree.
