Training-integrated dual course of study

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dual study programs integrated into training combine studies at a university or academy with practical vocational training in the company.

concept

Nationwide there are almost 700 dual study courses with over 40,000 students at universities of applied sciences, vocational academies, administrative and business academies and also at several universities. Common to all training offers is a constant change between theoretical lessons at the university or academy and practical phases in the training company. In order to achieve both, the course is tightly organized, but the career opportunities after the training are particularly good. This system is called dual studies or dual training.

Within three to a maximum of five years, students with a professional qualification (usually with a chamber qualification ) and a university diploma / bachelor's degree simultaneously acquire two degrees. The vocational training is usually shortened to 2 years, so that there is enough time for the bachelor's thesis in the main course. After two years, an examination for the training occupation is usually taken at the respective IHK. The knowledge for this has to be acquired while studying, but many companies support their applicants with seminars or the like. As a rule, dual students receive a training allowance for the entire duration of their training .

Prerequisites for such a degree are high school diploma or a technical college entrance qualification as well as a training contract with a company. Due to the combined training, dual study programs place high demands on the motivation and commitment of the dual students. The students are particularly stressed during their internship at the company, because during this time the theoretical knowledge that would normally have been imparted at the university has to be worked on in self-study. Even if the range of dual study programs is growing continuously, the places are very popular. Interested parties should therefore apply to a company at least one year in advance.
