The university region of Tübingen-Hohenheim is an association that unites universities and colleges across the boundaries of the various types of university.

Basis of the "university region Tübingen-Hohenheim" is a framework cooperation agreement between independent universities on 29 November 2005. Its members are the University of Tübingen , the University of Hohenheim , the University of Nürtingen-Geislingen , the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University , the University Reutlingen and the Rottenburg Forestry University .

The background to this agreement is to improve the service for the students as well as the quality of research and teaching, to enable the students to use the infrastructures such as the library and the cafeteria and to create a better, even cross-university degree permeability for studying. In this way, future-oriented study structures are to be promoted for the university region.

For the 2006/07 winter semester, a joint student ID was issued under the label "University Region Tübingen-Hohenheim".

Other planned measures include a stronger exchange of information and coordination of profiles among the participating universities. In the field of research, joint research projects are to be applied for and implemented. In addition, the participating universities want to network more international contacts. In the field of teaching, the mutual recognition of academic achievements is to be simplified in the longer term. And, among other things, against the background of the tuition fees to be paid since the summer semester 2007 , the universities want to work together on legal issues in the area of administration and coordinate the solutions.
