The student ID or student ID is an identification document to certify student status. It is usually valid for one semester or trimester and must then be renewed or extended. Other names for the student ID are student card , student card , student ID and student card in Austria officially student ID card , in Switzerland identity card .

purpose

In some countries, the student ID is used as an official photo ID. In other countries, the student ID is only valid in conjunction with an official photo ID such as a passport or a driver's license. Similar to the certificate of enrollment , data required to identify the student is stored on the ID card. The type of storage depends on the technology used in the card, such as contactless chip cards ( transponder cards) or chip cards with magnetic strips or PIN codes . The stored data are mostly the full name of the student, the date of birth, the place of birth, the validity period of the ID, as well as the most important key data for the study.
