Testicular prosthesis
As a testicular prosthesis , or Testicularimplantat , a is the implant of plastic referred to, which after the removal or the absence of one or both testicles can be used. These prostheses look and feel the same as a healthy testicle.
The indication for a testicular prosthesis can be, for example, the failure of a testicle to be placed, the death of a testicle due to testicular torsion or the removal of the testicle, for example in the case of testicular tumors .
Just like breast implants after tumor operations in women, a testicular prosthesis in men can have a positive effect on damaged self-esteem. It should be noted that inflammatory and rejection reactions of the body are also possible.
A testicular prosthesis is i. d. Usually seen as cosmetic surgery and is therefore usually not paid for by health insurance . The health insurance company would only have to pay for it if there is an important reason (for example psychological stress due to the absence of the testicle).
