Hofemann

As Hofemann , Hofmann and Hoffmann were referred to the tenant of a farmhouse or the landlords to services committed farmers , sometimes a courtier . Hobemann is the Hessian and Havemann / Hamann the Low German variant.

Hoffmann was the most common professional name in Silesia. It corresponded to the West and South German Meier, that is, estate manager at stately courts, also on patrician estates.

The old Franconian name Huber is related.
