The Hoffmann H40 is a two-seater sports aircraft produced by the German company Wolf Hoffmann Flugzeugbau in Günzburg.

history

The aircraft designed by Wolf Hoffmann came into being at the end of the 1980s with the aim of obtaining a type certification according to the new European building regulations JAR-VLA . The first flight of the prototype with the registration D-EIOF on August 28, 1988 and the flight tests were carried out by co-designer Dieter Oppel at Günzburg airfield . After building a second prototype with the registration D-EABY, the model received approval from the Federal Aviation Office on November 25, 1992 in accordance with the requirements of FAR 23.

construction

Consisting of GRP / CFRP - composites constructed low-wing has a slightly swept forward double trapeze wing with lift and electrical auszufahrenen split flaps. Two seats are arranged side by side in the cockpit with a central bar in the roof and large double doors. A damped elevator with trim tab and a damped rudder form a T-tail. The nose wheel landing gear of the prototype consists of the nose wheel of a Cessna 152 and the main landing gear of a Piper Tomahawk . The first prototype with the serial number 40-001 is powered by a four - cylinder Limbach 2400DB boxer engine with a Mühlbauer variable pitch propeller, the second (40-002) received a Lycoming O-235-P2A with a three-blade propeller.
