The Hofgarten Solingen is the largest shopping center in Solingen and the second largest shopping center in the Bergisches Land after the Allee Center in Remscheid . It is located on Graf-Wilhelm-Platz and Kölner Strasse on the site of the former Karstadt-Haus, with part of the former Karstadt-Passage being integrated. It consists of three floors for retail and three floors of parking garage and two additional floors.

history

The listed Hedderich Pavilion was demolished and the tower hotel blown up for the construction.

Sustainable and environmentally friendly materials were used in the construction. The facade consists of a glass metal mesh facade above the base, which reflects the theme of industry. Many dealers have moved from the Clemens Galleries to the Hofgarten due to the more modern and more central environment .

In a ranking of shopping centers in Germany carried out by tenants on behalf of Immobilien Zeitung in 2015 , Hofgarten only came 214th out of 248 properties with a grade of 3.4.

On March 13, 2017, there was an anonymous bomb threat on social media that resulted in a temporary closure. The chemical bomb was supposed to be detonated at 2:00 p.m. The police were able to give the all-clear in the afternoon as there was no find.

In June 2019 the Hofgarten was sold by Sonnae Sierra (Portugal) and MAB Development (Netherlands) to the British REVCAP Group, and the parties have agreed not to disclose the sales price.
