The Allee-Center Remscheid is a shopping center in the Bergisch city of Remscheid . It opened in 1986 and is now considered the largest shopping center in the region.
description
There are almost 100 specialist shops in the center. These include a self-service department store, a specialist store for entertainment electronics, a textile store, a sports store, a gourmet market and various service and catering businesses. Over 30,000 square meters are available on two levels, as well as a further 2,500 square meters as rental space for offices and medical practices. 600 employees work in the Allee-Center.
In addition to department store chains such as C&A or H&M , brands such as Camp David or Jack & Jones also operate individual stores. There is also a Thalia bookstore, a Deichmann shoe store, a dm drugstore , a Klauser shoe store, a Real supermarket, a Tchibo branch and a Saturn electronics store in the center.
development
The center is operated by the Hamburg-based ECE group. This is calculated with a catchment area of around 355,000 residents from Remscheid and the surrounding area in the Bergisches Land. In order to meet these requirements, two major renovation and expansion phases were inserted. The center was modernized and enlarged for the first time in 1995 and 1996, followed by a revitalization of the building and a further expansion from 2008 to 2009 .
A special feature of the center is that the ECE Group integrated a six-story administration building for the Remscheid municipal utilities during the construction of the building .
The building complex was built on a site that was largely undeveloped after the destruction of the Second World War and was used as a parking lot between Alleestrasse, the new Stadtsparkasse Remscheid building built in the 1970s , the Stadttheater (now the Teo Otto Theater ) and the Remscheid Town Hall, the Hochstrasse and Elberfelder Strasse. The building used by the municipal utilities and originally built for the Stadtsparkasse in the 1930s was demolished in the course of the development. The Konrad-Adenauer-Straße was partly built over, traffic-calmed and mainly serves as a connection to local public transport.
