The Hohenlimburger Kleinbahn 4-5 locomotives were tram locomotives of the Hohenlimburger Kleinbahn . The locomotives were put into service with the Kleinbahn in 1905 and 1906 and were previously used by other companies.
Locomotive 4 was manufactured by the Hohenzollern locomotive factory , locomotive 5 by the Humboldt mechanical engineering company. Otherwise they corresponded technically approximately to the Hohenlimburg small railway 1-3 . Both locomotives were in operation until 1932 when they were retired.
History and commitment
After the locomotives 1–3 had proven themselves on the Hohenlimburger Kleinbahn and an increase in traffic was recorded, the company needed more locomotives. These were bought second-hand.
Hohenlimburg small train 4
This locomotive was built in 1897 and was used on the Cologne-Frechen-Benzelrath Railway with the number 7 and the name Antonie . In 1905 it came to the Hohenlimburg small railway , where it was used until 1914.
Then it was handed over to WURAG Eisen- und Stahlwerke , one of the affiliates, to be relocated and stayed there until it was retired in 1926.
Hohenlimburg small train 5
This locomotive was built in 1900 with three machines of the same type by the Humboldt mechanical engineering institute and used on the Meiderich – Neumühl – Dinslaken tram . After they were electrified, the steam locomotives were no longer needed and were sold to other companies.
A locomotive came to the Hohenlimburger Kleinbahn in 1906 and was used until 1932. In terms of performance, it lagged behind locomotive 4 .
technology
There are no documents from locomotive 4 .
The locomotive with the number 5 looked exactly like the first Hohenzollern locomotives on factory photos. In a photo from 1927, it has glazing on the side of the smoke chamber .
The steam engine was of the wet steam design. The two steam cylinders were designed as internal engines. They were arranged slightly inclined under the smoke chamber and acted on the double-cranked rear drive axle. The regulator and control were located next to the dome in the middle of the boiler, where the train driver had his place of work.
Originally the locomotives had a condenser for exhaust steam condensation on the vehicle roof, which the driver could turn on or off with a three-way valve. As it flows through the condenser, the steam should flow back into the tank as water. This facility was no longer available to the later owners.
