Holger B. Deising

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holger Bruno Deising (born October 18, 1956 in Krummsee , Ostholstein ) is a German agricultural scientist, particularly phytomedicine at the University of Halle-Wittenberg ; he is a board member and was chairman of the German Phytomedical Society (DPG) (2015–2016).

Live and act

Deising attended school and high school in Krohnshagen and Kiel with high school diploma in 1975. He then completed his military service (1975-1976). He completed his studies in agricultural sciences at the University of Kiel in 1982 with a degree in agricultural engineering. This was followed by an assistantship at the Institute for Biology at the University of Kiel (1982–1987) with a final dissertation: Physiological and biochemical investigations on nitrate reduction in the bryophyte Sphagnum .

Then Deising moved to the Institute for Pathology at the University of Konstanz (1988 to 1996). There he completed his habilitation in 1996 with Biochemical investigation of differentiation of infection structures of the broad bean rust fungus Uromyces viciae-fabae and thus received a license to teach plant physiology and phytomedicine.

In 1997 he accepted the position of professor for phytomedicine at the University of Halle-Wittenberg.

Research abroad

Holger Deising completed research stays at McMaster University , Hamilton, ON, Canada; with A. Oaks in 1986, at the University of Georgia , Athens, GA, USA with WE Timberlake 1989 and at Purdue University , West Lafayette, IN, USA with RL Nicholson and RM Hanau in 1992.
