Holger Frahm

Holger Frahm (born April 8, 1959 in Braunschweig ) is a German theoretical physicist . He is a professor at the Leibniz University in Hanover .

Frahm studied at the University of Hanover, where he received his diploma in 1984 ( chaos in magnetic systems ) and his doctorate in 1987 under Hans-Jürgen Mikeska ( chaos in a driven quantum mechanical spin system ). In 1992 he completed his habilitation in Hanover, where he became professor for theoretical physics (2001 associate professor, 2004 W3 professorship ).

Frahm is concerned with exactly integrable models of statistical mechanics in one or two dimensions and associated phenomena (quantum spin chains , non- Abelian anyons , supersymmetric vertex models), the Hubbard model and the related tJ model , imperfections in lattices ( Kondo model , Anderson localization ) and quantum phase transitions.

In 1994 he received the Gerhard Hess Prize of the DFG and in 1996 the Physics Prize of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen "for his work on structure formation in superconductors and in the field of strongly correlated solids dominated by quantum fluctuations".

He is Chief Information Officer at Leibniz University Hannover.
