Holger Martens (veterinarian)

Holger Martens (born September 8, 1943 in Wilster ) is a German veterinarian .

Martens studied veterinary medicine from 1966 to 1971 at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover . After completing his doctorate and habilitation , he taught from 1984 to 1988 as an academic advisor at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover. From 1988 to 2010 he was Professor of Veterinary Physiology at the Free University of Berlin .

In 1998 he became a member of the Leopoldina . In 2015 the “confessing cow enthusiast” ( Märkische Allgemeine ) made a name for himself as a critic of high-performance breeding of cows .
