Holger Schulze
Holger Schulze (* 1970 ) is a German cultural scientist and professor of musicology at the University of Copenhagen .
Life
Holger Schulze studied comparative literature, theater and media studies and philosophy in Erlangen . With a comparative dissertation on the history of literature, music and art of aleatoric music , he received his doctorate in 1998 at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and completed his habilitation in 2007 with a thesis on the relationship between intimacy and mediality in cultural studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
Schulze was a co-founder and, from 2006 to 2009, the first director of the Sound Studies course at the Berlin University of the Arts, as well as visiting professor for sound anthropology and sound ecology . Since 2008 he has been the editor of the Sound Studies book series at transcript Verlag . He was visiting professor at the Musashino Art University Tokyo, the Humboldt University Berlin and the Leuphana University Lüneburg as well as a lecturer at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck . He is a visiting researcher at the Nordic Research Network for Sound Studies and at the Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Design at the Humboldt University of Berlin, as well as a founding member and deputy chairman of the European Sound Studies Association .
From 2010 to 2016 he headed the international DFG network Sound in Media Culture and between 2011 and 2017 the DFG project Functional Sounds at a newly founded Sound Studies Lab. Since 2014 he has been Professor of Musicology at the University of Copenhagen .
