Wooden Chapel Dürrenbach (2007)

The wooden chapel Dürrenbach is a chapel in Dürrenbach near Großholzleute , a suburb of Isny im Allgäu in the Ravensburg district .

description

The chapel is located north of Großholzleute in the valley of the Untere Argen at an altitude of 730 m on the county road 8020, which connects Großholzleute with Rohrdorf . It is one of the few wooden chapels in the district and was built around 1800. The east- facing , shingled plank structure is located on the bottom of the closest farm across the street at the foot of the Adelegg ridge . It has a wooden roof turret with a bell and a cantilevered gable roof .

Inside the chapel were the carved wooden figures of the baby Jesus and the apostles Peter and Paul. They were stolen. The owner and sacristan of the chapel made the figures again in the last century. The shrine with the Infant Jesus of Prague did not fall victim to the robbery.
