Wooden board

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wood board is a very smooth cardboard made from 100% wood pulp . Wood board does not contain any waste paper and is acid-free . Wooden board is offered in unglued (smooth on one side) or glued (smooth on both sides) form. The glued cardboard consists of two simple layers glued together so that the end product then appears smooth on both sides. The thicknesses range from 0.9 mm to approx. 4 mm.

properties

In addition to the smoothness of the outer layers, an advantage of wooden board is that this solid board has a high volume and comparatively low weight. Typical basis weights (grammages) depending on the thickness are:

  • 0.9 mm: 460 g / m 2
  • 1.3 mm: 640 g / m 2
  • 1.5 mm: 745 g / m 2
  • 2.0 mm: 985 g / m 2
  • 2.5 mm: 1190 g / m 2
  • 3.0 mm: 1430 g / m 2
  • 4.0 mm: 1890 g / m 2

Despite the low weight per unit area, wood board has an optimal flatness and very good stability.

use

Wooden board is therefore particularly popular as a lining board to e.g. B. to laminate printed sheets or papers on a stronger carrier material . Wooden cardboard is also used as backing board or for framing purposes as well as for architectural models or other model construction .

Color: natural colors. Since wood cardboard consists of a pure raw material (wood pulp, see above), the outer layers and core (cut edge) of the cardboard are natural-colored.

Wood board is also known under the terms "machine wood board " , "Finnish machine wood board " , " Finnpappe " or "Skanpappe".
