The homeobox protein DLX1 is a protein for which the existing in people DLX1 - gene coded.
function
The gene codes as a member of the homeobox transcription factor gene family, which are very similar to the “distal-less” genes of Drosophila . The encoded protein is located in the nucleus , where it could act as a transport regulator for the signals from several members of the TGF- β superfamily. The encoded protein may play a role in controlling facial skull stricture and the differentiation and existence of inhibitory neurons in the forebrain . The gene is in a configuration with other members of the gene family on the long arm of chromosome 2 . The transcription variants that result from alternative splicing and that code for various protein isoforms have already been described in more detail.
