Mouse Genome Informatics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mouse Genome Informatics ( MGI ) is an online database in which the most important information about the genome and metabolism of the house mouse ( Mus musculus ) is collected and made freely available. The stated aim is to use this information to facilitate the study of the human body and its diseases. MGI is operated by the Jackson Laboratory , a US government-funded independent, non-profit health center that also operates a globally recognized mouse laboratory.

The MGI website integrates, sorted according to genes , information on genetics , gene expression and metabolic pathways of individual mouse proteins as well as data from cancer research and other areas. This information is provided by sub-projects that are also financed by the state.
