The Hombolo reservoir is a lake dammed by a dam approx. 30 km northeast of the Tanzanian capital Dodoma in the region of the same name in the center of Tanzania .
description
It was built in 1957 by the British colonial government. The lake is at an altitude of 1038 m and has a depth of max. 12 m. The Little Kinyasungwe forms a swamp area when it flows in, which increases the clear area of the lake considerably after heavy rain events.
use
The Hombole Dam is used for agricultural irrigation and water supply to the surrounding communities: Hombolo-Bwawani, Zepisa, Mahomanyika, Chanzaga, Ngaegae, Mleche, Ghambala and Ipala. the word bwawani in Kiswahili literally means "the dam" or "into the dam."
