The Wami is a river in the Pwani and Morogoro region in eastern Tanzania .

course

It has several headwaters. Generally the source is given in the Kaguru Mountains . But its catchment area extends through the Kinyasangwe far beyond Dodoma to the southern edge of the Maasai steppe . Only after leaving the Mkata plain on the northern edge of the Mikumi National Park is he called Wami. Due to the deforestation and climatic changes in the region, its runoff is steadily decreasing.

Hydrometry

Like most rivers in the region, the Wami flows depending on the rainy season. The flow rate of the river system is recorded at some points. The data shown in the diagram were taken at the measuring station in Mandera, approx. 50 km above the mouth of the Wami. The mean annual flow rate observed there was 60.6 m³ / s (1954–1984). fed by around 82% of the river's catchment area (values read from a diagram).
