Falk Zenker (* 1967 in Mittweida ) is a German guitarist , sound artist and composer for film, television and theater music, among others for the documentary The Whisper of the Trees and for the MDR documentaries The Friedrich Schiller Code , The Children of Buchenwald or Anna Amalia - Duchess between fiction and truth .

Falk Zenker studied concert guitar and jazz from 1987 to 1992 at the Liszt School of Music Weimar , where he himself taught guitar (song accompaniment) from 1996 to 1999. He is considered a virtuoso on the acoustic guitar: “Zenker's guitar works like an orchestra”, “His exorbitant technique enables him to realize everything that springs from his lavishly bubbling musical imagination.” In addition, Zenker uses unusual sound generators, concrete noises and in his compositions Live electronics to create associative music rich in images, in which elements from jazz, classical, flamenco , world music , electro-acoustic, medieval and other traditional music merge. In connection with improvisations and experimental sound forms, Zenker has created his own sound language. His works are considered “filigree miniatures of magical transparency and virtuoso sound collages”, so that he has meanwhile also made a name for himself with room sound installations and multi-artistic projects.

Since the 1990s he has released the solo CDs “Falkenflug” (2017), “Geistreise” (2009), “Cinema” (2002) and “Landscapes” (2000) and was involved in the CDs of the Chilean singer Oscar Andrade ( CD title: “Desde la luz”, 1996) and the ensemble Nu: n (CD title: “Salutare”, 2006). He toured successfully with numerous music and solo projects - including with Oscar Andrade and the Trio Romero at home and abroad. In 2006, Falk Zenker initiated the “International Music and Ceramics Symposium” in the Kapellendorf moated castle. Since 2010 he has been playing with Peter Finger , Pedro Tagliani , Ahmed El Salamouny .

Falk Zenker lives and works in Kapellendorf near Weimar .
