Hon'inbō (tournament)

The Hon'inbō ( Japanese 本因坊 , Hon'inbō ) is the world's oldest tournament in the board game Go and has been held annually in Japan since 1941 . In addition to the Kisei and Meijin, the Hon'inbō is one of the three most important Japanese Go tournaments and has prize money of 32 million yen (approx. 220,280 euros ).

Tournament mode

The previous year's title holder is challenged by the winner of the qualifying matches. The challenger and the current title holder play seven games against each other, each with 8 hours to think about. The player with the most games won wins the tournament and officially bears the title of Hon'inbo .
