Hope Sandoval
Hope Sandoval (born June 24, 1966 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American singer and songwriter who is best known for her work in the band Mazzy Star .
Career
Hope Sandoval was born into a family of Mexican descent. She spent her childhood and youth in Los Angeles . With her friend Sylvia Gomez, she founded the folk music duo Going Home in 1986 and together they produced a demo tape. This came into the hands of Kendra Smith (known from Dream Syndicate ) and David Roback of Opal . Roback produced an album with them, but it was never released. Instead, Sandoval sang for Opal and began to write songs with Roback. With the band called Mazzy Star after the departure of Kendra Smith , they achieved a smaller hit in 1992 with the song Fade into you , the music video of which was also shown on MTV . The band released their fourth album Seasons of Your Day in 2013 after a long break .
In the following years, the singer, who was considered shy, made several smaller contributions to works by other artists, including a. for Air , The Chemical Brothers , Death in Vegas , Richard X , The Jesus and Mary Chain , Bert Jansch and Le Volume Courbe . Together with Colm O'Ciosoig, the drummer of My Bloody Valentine , she founded the band Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions , which released their first CD in 2001. On the 2010 album Heligoland by Massive Attack , she sings the song Paradise Circus , which is also the intro of the BBC series Luther . The solo album Until the Hunter was released on November 4th, 2016.
