Horace Fairhurst (* 1895 in Bolton ; † January 7, 1921 ) was an English football player who became known for his early death due to injury.

Life

Horace Fairhurst was born in Bolton and started his career at Darwen FC . The defender , who mostly played on the left , moved to the second division club FC Blackpool in 1919 , where he played 47 league games in the following years.

On December 27, 1920 Fairhurst suffered a head injury in an away game Blackpool at Barnsley FC , from which he died eleven days later. Fairhurst was among the first professional soccer players to suffer fatal injuries during a game.
