Hormando Vaca Díez

Hormando Vaca Díez (born April 30, 1949 - February 9, 2010 in Warnes ) was President of the Senate ( Cámara de Senadores ) in the National Congress of Bolivia , journalist, lawyer and party leader of the Bolivian ruling party Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR). As a candidate for the presidential post after the resignation of Carlos Mesa , he resigned after protests against himself, claiming that the public protests were directed by Carlos Mesa and Evo Morales . He died on February 9, 2010 after a heart attack in his country house in the town of Warnes, Santa Cruz Department .
