The Horseshoe Lake ( [hɔːsʃuː leɪk] , literally "Hufeisensee") is a small lake in Jasper National Park in the Canadian province of Alberta .

The lake is located south of Jasper , about 17 miles away along the Icefields Parkway , just before the Athabasca Falls . It has a length of about 700 m and a maximum width of about 270 m. A headland divides the southern half into two parts, the resulting curved shape is the reason for its name. Steep cliffs, some of which are up to 24 meters high, tower up on its bank.

The lake is one of the few places in the national park that is rarely visited by tourists, but it is particularly well known among local youngsters because it offers cliff jumping opportunities. Since this has resulted in several serious accidents in the past, including death, Parks Canada warns of the dangers involved.
