features

The Horsfield pointed squirrel is a small species of pointed squirrel, reaches a head-to-trunk length of 13 to 15 cm and has a 14.5 to 17.5 cm long tail. The hind feet are 33 to 38 mm long and the ears 7 to 15 mm long. The weight of the animals has not yet been determined. Horsfield's pointed squirrels are slender with a short snout and are uniformly colored agutibrown (that is, the hair is banded). The tail is bushy. The tail hairs are relatively thick and about 15 mm long. Some subspecies have been described due to different fur tones. The variations in fur color also occur in animals that occur together in the same area and can therefore not serve as a basis for a classification into subspecies.

Way of life

The distribution area in Indonesia
