Horst-Werner Höfeker

Horst-Werner Höfeker (born September 11, 1953 ) was a soccer player at 1. FC Magdeburg and 14 times junior national player of the GDR.

Höfeker joined the youth team of 1. FC Magdeburg in 1968 and won both the GDR championship and the GDR junior cup in 1970 with its junior team. In the cup final, in which he was called up in midfield, he scored the opening goal for the later 2-1 victory over Stahl Riesa . In 1971 and 1972 Höfeker belonged to the squad of the GDR junior national team, with which he finished second behind Czechoslovakia in the traditional Eastern Bloc junior tournament in 1971. He played a total of 14 international matches with the junior team.

When he was allowed to play for the men's division in the summer of 1971, Höfeker moved up to the 2nd team of 1. FC Magdeburg, which had just been promoted to the second-rate GDR league . On November 22, 1972 he came to his only assignment with the first team in the league , the top division in the GDR football game. In the encounter of the 11th game day of the 1972/73 season he was used in the 80th minute for midfielder Axel Tyll .

After the end of his career as an active soccer player, Höfeker became a coach for young soccer players in Magdeburg. On July 23, 2005, Höfeker and his old Magdeburg Juniors team-mates took part in an anniversary game to mark the 35th anniversary of the 1970 championship.
