Horst Brauer

Horst Brauer (born August 4, 1950 in Potsdam ) is a former German cyclist and GDR cycling champion .

Athletic career

Brauer started for SC Dynamo Berlin . He and his club won the 1972 GDR championship in the team time trial on the road with Volker Schönfeld, Guntram Berger and Wolfgang Fiedler . It was a victory for the underdogs against the favorite teams. Of the more important GDR races, he won the Great Barkas Prize in 1970, the Kowalit Prize in 1972, and around Langenau in 1973.

After completing his career at SC Dynamo Berlin, he joined SG Dynamo Potsdam and continued to compete in competitions for cyclists from the company sports associations (BSG). Here he was able to win the traditional race around the Scharmützelsee in 1975, with which he also won the BSG top ranking for that year.
