Horst Saar

Horst Saar (born May 9, 1925 in Altenwald ; † December 1985 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Horst Saar attended elementary school and then became a bricklayer . From October 1943 to January 1945 he served in the war in Russia. There he was taken prisoner of war , from which he was only released on December 21, 1949. He retained a severe walking handicap from the Second World War . Since he could no longer work in his profession, he was retrained as an industrial clerk. In this function he found a job at Saarbergwerke . He belonged to the IG Bergbau und Energie and was chairman of the works council of the Saarberg headquarters from 1967 to 1970. He then became an employee of EV immission control.

On November 3, 1956, he joined the SPD. From 1968 to 1974 he was a member of the Köllerbach municipal council, from 1974 a member of the Püttlingen city ​​council and chairman of the local SPD parliamentary group. At the state level, he was deputy chairman of the Working Group for Employee Issues (AfA). On May 4, 1975 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament (7th electoral period). He was re-elected on April 27, 1980 (8th electoral term).

On August 8, 1985 he was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit. He died in December 1985.
