List of pear varieties |
The pear variety Hortensia is a cross between Nordhäuser winter trout and Clapp's Favorite from Pillnitz of the Julius Kühn Institute and since 1996 in the German market.
The skin of this variety is yellow-green and two-thirds red-cheeked. The very juicy flesh is sweet and slightly sour.
The variety is ripe for picking from the end of September and ready for consumption by the end of October, with good storage until November. The yields are high to medium, the pruning effort is high because of the strong growth of the tree.
