Clapp's darling
'Clapp's Favorite' (Original Name English. 'Clapp's Favorite', syn: 'Clapp's Favorite Pear') is an old pear variety that as a chance 1860 in Dorchester ( Massachusetts / USA was pulled) by Thaddeus Clapp. The wood-colored butter pear is accepted as the mother variety . It was first described in 1869 - in Germany in 1870 by Oberdieck , who also gave it its German name.
fruit
The fruit is medium to very large and pear to cone-shaped. The thin shell has a green base color (yellow when fully ripe), on the side exposed to the sun a light to dark brown-red covering color develops. The shell has points of light brown color.
The fine flesh is white to light yellow, sweet and very juicy with a fine aroma and little acidity.
The used mostly as eating pear fruit is in August (hard season) and picked, and by the end of September ready to eat - which she is one of the early bulbs.

The fast-growing tree, suitable for all forms of training, forms wide, pyramidal crowns without care and training. The tree is very susceptible to fire blight .
Others
Due to the early ripeness and (hard-ripe) good storage and transportability, Clapp's favorite is one of the varieties grown in commercial fruit growing.
